Alfonso was born and raised in Seville. His mother was an amateur singer from Triana, and his grandfather, a flamenco aficionado. Growing up, he attended the activities of the Peña Flamenca Torres-Macarena. Since his arrival in New York in 1997, Alfonso has sung with the companies of Pilar Rioja and Andrea Del Conte, and has performed in prestigious venues such as Town Hall, London’s Royal Albert Hall, Sala Covarrubias in Mexico City, Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, and the Joyce Theater.
His CD, “Gazpacho Andaluz” was released last year. Alfonso recently studied at the Cristina Heeren Foundation for Flamenco Art in Seville, Spain in July of 2007 with maestros Paco Taranto and the young talent of flamenco singer Rocio Márquez.
Javier Bravo was born in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid. He started playing the flamenco guitar at age12 with maestro Paco de Antequera, a master of the old school of flamenco guitar created by Niño Ricardo and the principal guitarist of Peña Flamenca El Aljarafe.
At Peña Flamenca El Aljarafe, Javier also had the opportunity of sharing the stage with Jose Merce, Carmen Linares and Chato de la Isla. After this period he spent five years polishing his technique with Oscar Herrero, and private lessons with maters Victor Monge Serranito and Rafael Riqueni.
He has played alongside Flamenco guitarist Pepe Nuñez at Colmao Flamenco La Caña in Madrid accompanying such artists as Paco del Pozo, Marcelo Sousa or Fernando Montoro. Since 2002 he accompanied the up and coming young singer David Martin “Niño de Vicálvaro”. In 2004 he formed his own band with several Madrid based musicians called Proyecto 216, a fusion of Celtic music with Flamenco influences which recorded a CD titled “Caminando.” The group played in such venues as Clamores, one of the most important jazz clubs in Madrid. They also shared the stage with the Ruben Dantas Band at the VII Festival + Jazz (2006) in Madrid.
